Therapies

Today it seems that there are countless different holistic
therapies available out there, and it’s difficult
to know what they are and what they can provide for
you. In addition to the many other resources on this
site, have a look at some of the more common types of
holistic therapies that are readily available.
Among the most common are:
Chiropractics
Aromatherapy
Acupressure
Acupuncture
Reflexology
Meditation
Chiropractors specialize in the relationship
that exists between your spinal column and your nervous
system, performing spinal adjustments to alleviate many
problems caused by the misalignment of the vertebrae.
Aromatherapy is the unique therapy
that applies essential oils from aromatic plants so
that you can inhale the scents and relax, balance, restore,
and rejuvenate, in order to enhance your body, mind
and spirit. The foundation of aromatherapy is based
on your own ability for self-healing through an indirect
stimulation of your immune system. There are different
types of aromatherapies, but these include cosmetic,
massage and olfactory aromatherapy.
Acupressure is a type of massage which
applies different amounts of pressure to very specific
places on your body that are related to the same points
used in acupuncture. This is a traditional Chinese medicine
that believes that stimulating certain of the body encourages
better flow of vital energies among critical body pathways.
Acupressure has been known to treat and control chronic
pain, muscular pain, migraines and backaches.
Accupuncture uses these same points,
but influences your health through the stimulation of
these points with needles in the skin. A qualified acupuncturist
will determine and adjust the way that energy is flowing
within your body, in order to promote health and healing
for you specific needs. Needles are inserted into the
skin, in a clean, non-painful and non-harmful way, for
a process that takes between 15-45 minutes, depending
on the treatment.
Meditation
is found in many different forms, in cultures around
the globe. It’s purpose is generally to clear
your mind of crowded, disorganized thoughts, by focusing
on a single element, for example, a single though, word
or repeated mantra, or through the act of breathing.
Though many meditative techniques are motionless, some
others require certain movement - for example Tai Chi,
Aikido and Yoga.
