Course Description:
This course is for anyone interested in gaining knowledge
about chemical dependency and is designed to
teach the basic fundamentals of how to cope with addiction. This
course defines the aspects of relapse and how
the process occurs. Students will review various case
studies and examine techniques and strategies used
to interrupt the process of relapse. Upon completion
of this class students will have the knowledge to
develop a comprehensive relapse prevention plan, have
the ability to identify, manage relapse warning signs
and develop relapse managment methods to maintain
a healthy sobriety. This is an independent study class;
however class participation is required, and it is
dependent upon the learner to complete the required
assignments and lesson components. A number of certificates
will be issused for students who participate and complete
the class. There is no text for this course. All reading

Welcome to Drug Addicition: Understanding the Effects
of Drug Abuse. This course provides a comprehensive
introduction to understanding the effects of drug
use/misuse and drug abuse. This course is useful for
anyone who is interested in gaining knowledge and
self-awareness of drug issues and the aspects of drug
addiction. This course presents an overview of how
drugs are regulated and gives a brief description
of drug laws. Defines various drugs, their effects,
the symptoms, and symptoms of overdose, whithdrawal
and indications of misuse. Covers various drug categories
and explains how drugs are classified. The psychological
and sociological effects of mood altering substances
are discussed. This course also explains how addictive
behaviors contribute to drug abuse and their implications.
It provides treatment methods and techniques for drug
dependency. Gaining an understanding of the context
in which drugs are misused and abuse will assist students
in re-evaluating misuse of various medications and
drug use in their own lives. This is an independent
